Women of the ELCA is the women's organization of the congregation.
Every woman in the congregation is a member and welcome to participate.
They meet the first Monday of each month for an afternoon program
and schedule several special events throughout the year.
LMA is the St. John's Lutheran Men's Association for the men of the
congregation. They meet monthly to plan their programs including the
Spring Chicken Barbeque, the chowder sales, golf outing and summer
stag outing.
Finance Committee meets monthly to analyze the congregation's financial
situation and make recommendations to the Congregation Council regarding
our needs.
Congregation Council is the legislative body which conducts the business
of the church and makes decisions for the congregation between Annual
Meetings. The group of twelve elected for three year terms meet the
fourth Tuesday of each month.
AARP Board of Directors for Lancaster meets in our building the first
Wednesday of each month as part of our Community service.
The Fellowship Committee meets several times each year to plan and
implement social programs which gather the members of the congregation
to have some fun and broaden relationships within the congregation.
Property and Grounds Committee meet to discuss and plan for the care
and preservation of our facilities. They schedule work days and request
the help of members to get the jobs done.
Family Church is normally scheduled for the third Sunday of each
month for families to attend the 9:00 AM Worship Service together.
Following the Gospel reading, the children are invited to come forward
for a Children's Sermon and then return to their classroom areas for
Sunday School.
"Tower's Communion" refers to the Communion Service which
Pastor and the Vicar provide at the Lancaster Tower's Residence at
the corner of Pleasant and Central. Several of our members are residents
there and they invite friends.
"Linwood Worship" normally the second Thursday of the month,
Pastor and the Vicar conduct a protestant Worship Service for the
residents at this Nursing Home facility on Como Park Blvd. in Lancaster.
"Fellowship Breakfast"is normally held the last Tuesday
of each month at 9:30 AM for anyone available in the morning hours.
There is good food and lively conversation and even a few jokes to
be shared. A free will offering is received. The doors are open for
any interested to join us.
"Kid's Club" is a play group for preschool children and
their caregivers. The group is open to members and friends alike.
It's a chance for the children to play in a larger space than most
homes offer and have the safety of supervised play with other children.
The adults also have the chance to chat and get a bit of "adult
conversation."
"WARN meeting" The WordAlone Regional Network meets locally
to discuss reactions to the Lutheran Church's decision to enter into
"Pulpit and altar fellowship" with the Episcopal Church.
Many Lutherans (at least one third of the congregations in this area)
are concerned that the decision changes our confessional stance and
these meeting are opportunities for the laity to become involved in
expressing their concerns. Our Pastor and Council are supporters of
the WordAlone movement.
LYO is the nickname for our Lutheran Youth Organizations. We have
a group of 7-12 Graders which meets once a month for programs and
projects. Each Easter we take a trip to a major Eastern city with
the LYO.
