Events Calendar Details

Women of the ELCA is the women's organization of the congregation. Every woman in the congregation is a member and welcome to participate. They meet the first Monday of each month for an afternoon program and schedule several special events throughout the year.

LMA is the St. John's Lutheran Men's Association for the men of the congregation. They meet monthly to plan their programs including the Spring Chicken Barbeque, the chowder sales, golf outing and summer stag outing.

Finance Committee meets monthly to analyze the congregation's financial situation and make recommendations to the Congregation Council regarding our needs.

Congregation Council is the legislative body which conducts the business of the church and makes decisions for the congregation between Annual Meetings. The group of twelve elected for three year terms meet the fourth Tuesday of each month.

AARP Board of Directors for Lancaster meets in our building the first Wednesday of each month as part of our Community service.

The Fellowship Committee meets several times each year to plan and implement social programs which gather the members of the congregation to have some fun and broaden relationships within the congregation.

Property and Grounds Committee meet to discuss and plan for the care and preservation of our facilities. They schedule work days and request the help of members to get the jobs done.

Family Church is normally scheduled for the third Sunday of each month for families to attend the 9:00 AM Worship Service together. Following the Gospel reading, the children are invited to come forward for a Children's Sermon and then return to their classroom areas for Sunday School.

"Tower's Communion" refers to the Communion Service which Pastor and the Vicar provide at the Lancaster Tower's Residence at the corner of Pleasant and Central. Several of our members are residents there and they invite friends.

"Linwood Worship" normally the second Thursday of the month, Pastor and the Vicar conduct a protestant Worship Service for the residents at this Nursing Home facility on Como Park Blvd. in Lancaster.

"Fellowship Breakfast"is normally held the last Tuesday of each month at 9:30 AM for anyone available in the morning hours. There is good food and lively conversation and even a few jokes to be shared. A free will offering is received. The doors are open for any interested to join us.

"Kid's Club" is a play group for preschool children and their caregivers. The group is open to members and friends alike. It's a chance for the children to play in a larger space than most homes offer and have the safety of supervised play with other children. The adults also have the chance to chat and get a bit of "adult conversation."

"WARN meeting" The WordAlone Regional Network meets locally to discuss reactions to the Lutheran Church's decision to enter into "Pulpit and altar fellowship" with the Episcopal Church. Many Lutherans (at least one third of the congregations in this area) are concerned that the decision changes our confessional stance and these meeting are opportunities for the laity to become involved in expressing their concerns. Our Pastor and Council are supporters of the WordAlone movement.

LYO is the nickname for our Lutheran Youth Organizations. We have a group of 7-12 Graders which meets once a month for programs and projects. Each Easter we take a trip to a major Eastern city with the LYO.
